Industry Updates part 2
Adonis To Debut New Line At Futon Expo
Oakland CA: Adonis Furniture, one of the industries leading futon manufacturers is proud to announce the launch of a series of new products at this year’s Futon and Specialty Sleep Expo. Adonis will be adding four new numbers to its popular Caribbean Wicker Collection. The new arms will offer a more promotional price point in its premium wicker offerings as well as the addition of a cottage white rattan futon frame. New to the Superbody collection will be the addition of a sixth finish. The new Espresso finish made its debut at the SF Winter market and was well received by all who attended. Adonis also launched its new juvenile program, which was also very well received and should make an immediate impact on dealer’s floors. Adonis GM Matt Sansoe spoke about the recent success at the SF Winter Market and the introduction of the company’s new products. “ We introduced and previewed a lot of new items. From the launch of our juvenile line to adding what we believe will be the hottest finish in 2004 for our Superbody collection, “Espresso,” we had a tremendous show. It wasn’t just the response to the introduction of new product that impressed us the most; it was the turnout we had. If the attendance is any indicator of what is to come in 2004 we are very excited.”
Adonis will exhibit all of its new products as well as its Frame Line collection, the sleek European futon frame and the accessories collection in Philadelphia in Booth 800. Adonis will share the exhibition space with long time partners Cannon Sleep Products and Dream On Futon Covers. “ We previewed all of our new items in SF, so that when Futon Expo came around we would be able to hit the ground running with our new items,” Sansoe commented. Please stop by the Adonis booth in Philadelphia for show specials and to learn about Adonis’ quick ship program from any one of its three regional distribution centers, including Hartford CT.

New This Season from Pete Dodge Products Inc.
New this season from Pete Dodge Products is the Futon Foot Stool.
This flexible, patent pending product is actually an ottoman for “chair” and “loveseat style” futon frames. The ottoman features folding legs that allow customers to roll the ottoman and its included high density foam cushion under the frame when it’s not needed. Customers can adjust the “foot stool” to match the height of their particular frame and futon by following the products simple instructions.
The product will be shipped to futon retailers in a carton complete with the cushion.
“Since people buy love and chair sized products mostly because they fit small apartments I can’t see why they wouldn’t appreciate an ottoman accessory that wouldn’t take up extra space,” says CEO and head of maintenance, Pete Dodge. “The trim, Foot Stool Ottoman can also be stored behind the couch, mattress and all, rather than underneath.”
Pete Dodge Products has the rather unique distinction of being an unknown company with very well known products. This small Wisconsin company is also making high end furniture products selling between $1500 to $3000, keystone.
These attractive new products are targeted to a market that generally has shown little interest in more conventional futon products. The generous arms and artistically proportioned pads are original to this company’s products.
Three products are very popular and well known: the Adirondack, the Bolger (shown on the 2002 FAI Expo buyers guide) and the Swede, a Danish modern inspiration.
“The other unique feature of Pete Dodge Products is that not only are the products we manufacture for sale but so are the product concepts and production rights,” said Dodge.
Burlington Futon Company Announces 2004 Washable Collection
Burlington, VT — Futon retailers will discover a new emphasis on washables when visiting Burlington Futon Company’s Booth #900 at the Futon & Specialty Sleep Expo in Philadelphia this March.
“Demand for easy-care futon covers is growing and showing washables in your store helps to meet your customers’ needs and expand your sales,” says Mark Binkhorst, President of the company.
In response, Burlington Futon Company has worked hard to build a selection of washable fabrics that meet the standards of their Special Order Program. With now half of their fabrics in the washables category, the company has created a book exclusively for the swatches of its Washable Collection as well as point of purchase (POP) materials designed to familiarize and assist retailers and their customers. Now it is easier than ever to respond to queries of “Which covers are washable?” In addition to the book, covers are identified with new packaging information and cover tags are available for showroom displays.
New introductions in the Washable futon cover collection include three additional colors for the Aries line — Plum, Moss, and Leaf — along with three vintage florals that are also ultra soft microfibers. Others include face and soil-resistant fabrics from Vermont designer Susan Sargent, and Boulder, Burlington’s new washable denim futon covers in seven soft earth tones.
A new twist in Burlington’s line of accessories is the Pocket Pillow. All twenty inch pillows in Boulder denim will feature a pocket just like the one on the back of your favorite jeans. It’s the perfect place to stash the remote.
Burlington Futon Company continues to provide the futon industry with high quality, Vermont-made futon covers for futons and accessories made from a large collection of fashion forward fabrics. Give your showroom a distinctive advantage with covers from Burlington Futon Company.
